Potter felt his side were at their best in the victory over Leeds
St Helens coach Mick Potter was delighted with his side's 22-18 victory over Leeds in the Challenge Cup at Headingley on Sunday.
"We knew we'd have to be at our ultimate best to beat Leeds," Potter told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"They're a fantastic team and on their day they can beat anyone. We played our best as well and matched them in in just about every facet.
"They needed no motivation to play against Leeds. They love playing them."
Potter added: "It brings out the best in them. I think they enjoy the knock-out type of games and there is nothing better in the competition than playing against Leeds.
"They love this competition and the results in the last three years are testament to that. They've done a fantastic job."
