Smith pens new St Helens contract
St Helens
St Helens reserve scrum-half Matty Smith has agreed a one-year contract extension that will run until the end of the 2009 season.

The 20-year-old made nine first-team appearances this year when Sean Long was injured.

Saints chairman Eamonn McManus said: "Matty is another great product of our youth development system.

"He is an exciting young player and we are delighted to have secured his services until 2009."

Smith joins the likes of Jon Wilkin, James Graham and Sean Long in signing new deals at Knowsley Road.
