Roby has managed five tries for St Helens so far this season |
If St Helens beat Bradford in Saturday's Challenge Cup semi-final, hooker James Roby will be in line for a second Wembley appearance. The 21-year-old's versatility and performances for the Super League leaders and Cup holders have put him firmly in line for end of season honours.
But another date at Wembley would mean a lot to Roby, who was cheering on the Knowsley Road side from the terraces before becoming one of their stars.
"The last time I was at Wembley was in 1997 when myself and James Graham played for Blackbrook under-11s in the warm-up game before the final," he told BBC Sport.
"I went to Wembley a few times as a Saints supporter when I was younger but everyone says the new Wembley is fantastic and it would be a great occasion for all of us to get there.
"We know as players how much it means to us to win the Challenge Cup so we are really determined to get to Wembley this year."
After making his debut in March 2004, Roby is fast approaching 100 appearances for St Helens and he played in all four of Great Britain's Tri-Nations games in Australia and New Zealand at the end of last season.
This season has seen him split his time between starting for Saints and making an impact off the bench in place of the vastly experienced Keiron Cunningham.
He found himself in slightly unfamiliar territory in last Friday's Super League win over Wigan, starting at scrum-half with Sean Long coming in off the bench after missing four games through injury.

"I've been used to coming in off the bench but Daniel [Anderson, the coach] has given me more starts this season. I'm not sure if I'm making more of an impact starting or coming in off the bench," he admitted.
"To be honest I was nervous to start at number seven but it's good to have Longy back, he's a key figure and a leader and pushes us around the park.
"I'm not bothered where I play as long as I'm playing as it's my hometown club."
His man of the match performance in last week's 19-12 victory over the Warriors earned high praise from Anderson.
"Robes is a great team player and will play wherever you want him to and nothing seems to be uncomfortable for him," he said.
Roby was one of GB's best performers in last year's Tri-Nations |
"He's going to be a magnificent number nine and he will wear that number when Keiron goes.
"He will still be far and away the best in this competition but, until that time comes, he's happy to put in anywhere."
But if Roby and his team-mates are to get their wish of a Wembley date at the end of August, they must overcome Bradford who beat Saints 10-4 two weeks ago at a rain-soaked Odsal.
"In a way we probably owe Bradford one after what happened to us the other week, but we won't be distracted by that too much," Roby insists.
"It was important for us to do well against Wigan last Friday and although we were still a bit scrappy at times, our defence was brilliant and we stuck in there for the points.
"We'll prepare for Saturday like any other game. Although we'll be wary after last week, if we get our game right on the day I think we'll be OK."
