Wilkin's challenge on Thorman left the Giants player concussed |
St Helens back-rower Jon Wilkin has been handed a two-match ban by a Rugby Football League disciplinary committee for striking an opponent. Wilkin was sin-binned and put on report for a challenge on Huddersfield skipper Chris Thorman during the Saints' 18-10 Super League win on Sunday.
The 23-year-old admitted the offence when he appeared before the panel in Leeds on Tuesday and was fined 300.
"It was a careless tackle and he does regret it," said coach Daniel Anderson.
Wilkin will miss St Helens' fixtures against Harlequins on Friday and Wakefield on 18 February, but will be available for the World Club Challenge against Brisbane Broncos in Bolton on 23 February.
