Anderson spent five years as Australia coach until 2003 |
Former Australia coach Chris Anderson has agreed a two-year deal to coach NRL side Sydney Roosters. Anderson, whose last coaching role was at rugby union's Newport Gwent Dragons, replaces current Kangaroos boss Ricky Stuart who was sacked a month ago.
Roosters chairman Nick Politis said: "Chris brings with him a wealth of coaching and playing experience."
Former Kangaroos captain and Roosters legend Brad Fittler has been appointed as Anderson's assistant.

Anderson coached Canterbury Bulldogs and Melbourne Storm to NRL premierships in 1995 and 1999 respectively and enjoyed five successful years as Australian coach from 1999-2003 which included the 2000 World Cup triumph. He also led Halifax to Challenge Cup and Championship glory as player-coach from 1985-88 and will be in charge of the Roosters in their historic 100th season in 2007 and the game's centenary in 2008.
"To join the only Australian foundation club to have played every year in their 100th season is a great honour," Anderson added.
His appointment ends speculation linking St Helens coach Daniel Anderson with the post.
