St Helens hooker Keiron Cunningham says he is becoming a better player under new coach Daniel Anderson. Cunningham will face former Saints coach Ian Millward for the second time in three weeks on Friday when Wigan travel to Knowsley Road.
And while he rates his old boss highly, he reckons the arrival of Anderson has given a new lift to his game.
"Daniel has brought some stuff out of me that I probably didn't realise I had there," Cunningham told BBC Sport.
"I've got more self-belief in my game and what I can achieve for the team.
"I think we would have gone well with Ian. He's a good bloke and we're still friends. But Daniel is a breath of fresh air, he's been brilliant for everybody.
"He's totally different - it's like chalk and cheese.
"Daniel puts a lot more emphasis on us as players to control things.
"I've been with Ian for five years, and I wouldn't say things were stale because Ian was always trying to create different things. But for me it's been good to get a different outlook."
Saints are fresh from a 75-0 win over their local rivals in the Challenge Cup and the club has wasted no time in printing up T-shirts boasting the scoreline. But Cunningham insists that scoreline will have little relevance to Friday's Super League match.
"They are a good team and it's going to be a very tough game," said Cunningham.
