St Helens star Sean Long has distanced himself from speculation he could join former coach Ian Millward at Wigan. Rumours have been rife that Millward could look to raid his old club to help boost the Warriors' flagging fortunes.
But Long said: "I've got two years left on my contract and hopefully, if the board agrees, I can extend that and finish my career here."
The 28-year-old scrum-half added: "Why would I want to leave St Helens at the moment when we are playing so well."
New St Helens coach Daniel Anderson is also certain that Long will not be leaving.
"I can't see any reason why you would want to leave when the Great Britain full-back (Paul Wellens), the Great Britain captain (Paul Sculthorpe) and probably the best hooker in the UK (Keiron Cunningham) are at the club," he said.
"We have a quality set of forwards for him to play behind and half-backs love big forwards to provide them space, so I don't think Sean Long is going anywhere."
