Gleeson is currently serving a ban |
Warrington have completed the signing of Great Britain and St Helens centre Martin Gleeson. Gleeson, currently serving a four-month ban for betting irregularities, will link up with his brother Mark at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Saints confirmed they accepted a 200,000 bid for the 24-year-old, who also attracted interest from Wigan.
And Warrington Wolves coach Paul Cullen said of the signing: "This is nothing less than a sensational capture."
He added: "One of the most startling aspects of the brokering of this deal was Martin's ambition to carry on winning trophies and playing for Great Britain.
"He has a programme which we hope will help him to fulfil his ambition to play for Great Britain at the end of the season."
Gleeson admitted to being stunned by the speed of the transfer, saying he knew nothing about it until Tuesday.
"I just got a phone call from St Helens and they said someone had made an offer and they were willing to let me go," he said.
"1 was surprised as I didn't know anything was going on - I had another two years left at Saints and was happy to stay."
St Helens chairman Eamonn McManus said: "Absolutely no other players from this squad are for sale.
"We will be looking to add to the squad for next year so that it is stronger than the one that has already won the Challenge Cup this season.
"In the meantime, regardless of current injuries and suspensions, we are focused on the run in to the Grand Final. Everyone has a job to do and will do it."
