Holdsworth has been a success this season at The Willows |
Salford City Reds have beaten off Super League rivals to agree a three-year deal with half-back Daniel Holdsworth. The 26-year-old former Canterbury Bulldogs player had been the target of other top clubs but has now decided to remain at The Willows until 2011. The Australian, who also plays at hooker and loose forward, initially joined on a one-year deal. "I wanted to show some loyalty and not just split after one good year," he told the club's official website. "Ultimately I want to be a part of getting the Reds to the play-offs and be a part of the new stadium." Salford director of football Steve Simms said: "This is outstanding news and we are delighted that Daniel shares our vision of where this club is heading and has agreed a new contract. "This is a big contract and shows great commitment from both Daniel and the Reds to continue to make things work. "We can now start to forge a team around the exciting half-backs we have on our books," he added. Salford have also confirmed the signing of Adam Neal from neighbours Warrington, initially on a one-month deal.
