Myler has become one of the hottest properties in Super League rugby |
Salford City Reds scrum-half Richie Myler has turned down an offer of a new contract at the Super League club, according to his agent Martin Offiah. The 19-year-old England international has been linked with Warrington but is contracted to Salford until the end of next season. "Salford have made him an offer, which he has rejected," Offiah told the League Express. "He has another year on his deal but things may change." Myler was one of the star performers in England's impressive victory over France in Paris this month, where he scored 30 points. Offiah added: "Richie showed against France what he is capable of when he is surrounded by quality players. | 606: DEBATE |
"That is no disrespect to Salford, because he is committed to them, but he is second (only) to Sean Long as the best in the country." Meanwhile Salford coach Shaun McRae said he wants the Reds to carry out their own self-assessment to improve their form. The weekend's 14-12 defeat at Hull left Salford second from bottom in Super League after 16 matches. McRae told BBC Radio Manchester: "There were guys who'll look at their performance to think 'Gee, I was behind the eight ball there'. "So there'll be some self-assessment and coach-assessment and we'll try to get it right for next week. "But I'm relatively happy. The positives we take out of it are the effort, the grit, the steel, the determination; the things we've got to work a bit harder on are execution and a little bit of intelligence," he added.
