Alker has played in all four of Salford's Super League games this season |
Salford City Reds have renamed Malcolm Alker as their captain, after he was stripped of the role following a pre-season tour to Florida. The Super League side have investigated the incident that led to the 30-year-old being removed from the role after a few players allegedly broke a curfew. City Reds head coach Shaun McRae said: "It's clear lessons have been learned. "He is deserving of this second chance. I can see in his eyes that he will not let us down." Alker, who has only ever played for Salford, said: "I'm delighted. It was a horrible feeling to lose the captaincy and I hope no one has any concerns about how much it means to me. "I would like to thank the coach and board of directors for the confidence and trust they are once again placing in me and I realise the importance of putting this behind us, starting today." Rob Parker, who had been in the skipper role since the start of this season, has been appointed club captain.
