Salford assistant coach Jimmy Lowes has left the club after three years to take up a position with Warrington Wolves. "Leaving the club has been an extremely difficult decision to make, but I feel that the time is right," said Lowes.
The former Great Britain and Bradford hooker had been tipped to replace head coach Karl Harrison when he was sacked by the Reds at the end of May.
But the job went to Shaun McRae, although Lowes initially said he was happy to remain as his number two.
"Being overlooked as head coach at Salford City Reds has obviously unsettled him," admitted Salford chief executive David Tarry.
"We wish him well and thank him for his valuable contribution at the club."
Reds director of football Steve Simms added: "It will not be long before he is head coach at another club and he has a great future ahead of him."
