Leeds Rhinos confirm four more friendly games

Leeds

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed four more pre-season games, all away from home, ahead of the 2011 Super League season.

After the Wakefield game on Boxing Day, Leeds go to Hunslet in the traditional Lazenby Cup clash on Sunday, 16 January (1500 GMT) at South Leeds Stadium.

Sunday, 23 January will see a trip to last year's beaten Championship Grand Finalists Featherstone Rovers.

The Rhinos then head to Whitehaven on Sunday, 30 January, and going to York City Knights on Wednesday, 2 February.

"It is an important period for us with a new coaching team in charge and a large squad of 31 players looking to impress ahead of the start of the new campaign," said Chief executive Gary Hetherington.

Last season Leeds worked successfully with Whitehaven to promote the sport in the area prior to a fixture.

And the club will repeat that exercise in 2011, with a fundraising dinner attended by all the Rhinos players the night prior to the game.

"We are particularly looking forward to our return to Cumbria and helping out Whitehaven, who were so welcoming last season," added Hetherington.

"Our community team will be spending time in the area in the week leading up to the game and the entire squad will be present to meet fans and sponsors on the night before the match.

"We are hoping to include one more pre-season fixture against Super League opposition but that will be away from home so can confirm that the game against Wakefield on Boxing Day will be our only home pre-season game."
