Rhino Kirke sustains broken leg

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed Ian Kirke suffered a broken leg in Saturday's 32-30 defeat at Catalans Dragons.

The 28-year-old second row will see a specialist later this week to determine if he needs an operation and how long he will be sidelined for.

"We are all disappointed for Kirkey," said coach Brian McClennan.

"The X-rays have confirmed there is a fracture there and he will now see the specialist early this week to decide the next course of action."

Kirke, who signed a two-year extension with the club last week, missed six months of last season due to injury.

The Rhinos will also be without the England trio of Danny McGuire, Jamie Peacock and Ryan Hall for Sunday's home game against Huddersfield Giants.

McClennan has confirmed he will not be requesting them back after Saturday's international against France in Paris.

He explained: "We had made provisions for them to be back in case injuries dictated that we were short on numbers in their positions, however we are in a good position."

Second row Jamie Jones-Buchanan and scrum-half Rob Burrow are both expected to return against the Giants after sitting out the loss in Perpignan.
