Thackray started on the bench 24 times last season

The 28-year-old forward, who arrived at Headingley from Hull FC in July 2006, is keen to seek a new club after slipping down the pecking order.

"Jamie is re-assessing where he wants to go with his career," said Leeds coach Brian McClennan.

"He is concerned he might not get the number of games he would like and is looking at his options."

Thackray helped Hull record a shock defeat of the Rhinos in the final of 2005 Challenge Cup final before joining his hometown club midway through 2006.

But he has failed to secure a regular starting spot at Headingley, finding himself on the bench 24 times in 2007.

"He has asked if he can talk to other clubs and we are open to that because we don't want to hinder his career," added new boss McClennan.

"He is still one of the best time-breaking props in Super League but we are pretty healthy in that department."

Leeds will be able to demand a transfer fee for Thackray, who has two seasons left on his contract.

But there is likely to be significant interest in the former Hunslet, Halifax and Castleford forward, who can be a destructive player on his day.

Thackray has won three caps for Great Britain but was not part of the Lions squad that beat New Zealand 3-0 last year.

He has figured in all three of the Rhinos' pre-season matches so far and scored two tries in Sunday's 42-20 win at Featherstone.

But he has not been named in the team for Kevin Sinfield's testimonial match against Oldham at Headingley on Sunday.
