Gibson played for England in the Federations Shield |
Leeds Rhinos centre Ashley Gibson has agreed a new three-year deal with the Super League club. The new contract will keep the 20-year-old, who played for England in last year's Federation Shield, at the club until the end of the 2009 season.
"I am delighted to have agreed a long-term deal with my home-town club," said Gibson.
"I had no hesitation about signing the new deal and never wanted to go anywhere else."
Gibson, who came through the Leeds academy after signing from Stanningley in 2003, scored 22 points on his Rhinos debut against Leigh in 2005 and has since made 13 first-team appearances.

"I hope I can follow in the footsteps of Rob Burrow, Danny McGuire and Kevin Sinfield who have all come through the academy system and gone on to play for Great Britain," added Gibson.
"I did not expect to play as much as I did last season and to get picked for England was a real bonus.
"Having been in the first team and played for England, that has definitely whetted my appetite and I hope I can at least match that this season.
"I have definitely raised my expectations of myself and I am challenging myself to raise the bar again.
"You can see with the amount of former academy players in the squad here that Leeds is a club that looks after its young players and hopefully I can continue to develop and repay the faith the club has shown in me."
