Fox also had a try disallowed in Friday's game with France |
Hull Kingston Rovers winger Peter Fox is hoping to earn selection for England in the World Cup squad after scoring on his debut on the international stage. The 23-year-old touched down for a try as England hammered France 56-8 on Friday in Toulouse. "I've just got to play well week in week out and hopefully I'll get another phone call off Tony [Smith, the coach]. "I'm just going to concentrate on getting into the squad for the World Cup," he told BBC Radio Humberside. Fox made a dream start, scoring a second-half try in England's 56-8 rout of the French on Friday. He said: "It was a bit of an easy one but it was really nice to get over the line on my international debut." However, the former Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and York City Knights player revealed that he hopes to be a better player for having the international experience. He added: "It was everything I expected it to be. It was really professional and I asked a lot of questions off the experienced players. Being around those type of players for a week has boosted my confidence. "Now I just got to perform for Hull KR every week and that's what I'll hope I'll be able to do."
