Raynor adds to Hull injury woes
Gareth Raynor
Raynor is a key figure for Peter Sharp's Hull side
Hull FC have been dealt another injury blow with Gareth Raynor set to miss the start of the new season in February.

The Great Britain international tore a hamstring in Sunday's defeat to Huddersfield in Paul King's testimonial and will be out for six weeks.

But half-back Richard Horne is expected to return earlier than expected after a foot injury.

The club first feared the injury could sideline Horne for the season but he is also expected back in six weeks.

A scan revealed the 25-year-old had torn a muscle in his foot and he will spend the next week in Portugal undergoing treatment but he could return to face Huddersfield in early March.

"This is great news for Richard and great news for us," coach Peter Sharp told the Hull Daily Mail.

"It really is a massive relief. Richard is a key member of this team and we need him back fit."

Hull have suffered a host of pre-season injuries and are already without second rows Lee Radford and Richard Whiting for the start of the season.

Captain Radford looks set for a two-month lay-off after breaking a thumb against Huddersfield, while Whiting faces a longer spell on the sidelines because of a broken arm.

But hooker Shaun Berrigan is set to be fit for the opening game against Warrington on 8 February after a scan on a shoulder injury revealed no serious damage.
