Briscoe was behind Kris Radlinski in the Wigan pecking order |
Hull FC have moved quickly to sign former Wigan full-back Shaun Briscoe on a three-year deal. The England A player was released by the Warriors at the start of the week in a cost-cutting measure.
"This is a fantastic signing for the club," Hull FC chairperson Kath Hetherington.
"Shaun is a very exciting prospect for both Hull FC and British Rugby League - I'm delighted he has come on board with us."
Briscoe, 20, recently starred for England A in the inaugural European Nations Cup and scored eight tries for the Warriors in 19 appearances.
"Although Widnes and Salford were interested, Hull is a big club, they are very ambitious and they also play in a great new arena at the Kingston Communications Stadium," said Briscoe.
"I never wanted to leave Wigan, it is the club I grew up with and all my mates are there.
"It is all down to the salary cap and I have to admit I am disappointed. But I have to put all that behind me because I can't do anything about it."
Wigan also released Great Britain centre Paul Johnson to comply with salary cap regulations.
He has since joined Super League champions Bradford Bulls.
