 | MATCH SUMMARY Huddersfield (20) 42 Tries: Gardner 3, Smith, Jackson, Wild 2, Snitch Goals: De Vere 5 Catalans (10) 34 Tries: Murphy 2, Guigue, Chan, Wilson, Rinaldi Goals: Frayssinous 5 | Huddersfield boosted their play-off hopes with a dramatic victory over the Catalans in a see-saw game of 14 tries. Mat Gardner scored a hat-trick of tries as the Giants led 20-10 at half-time. But the Dragons, 28-16 down heading into the final quarter, went ahead with tries from John Wilson, Julien Rinaldi and Justin Murphy, his second. But Huddersfield, for whom Paul Smith and Paul Jackson scored earlier, rallied to clinch victory through Stephen Wild and Steve Snitch. Michael de Vere kicked five goals, while Laurent Frayssinous landed five for the visitors, for whom Renaud Guigue and Alex Chan also scored tries. Huddersfield Giants coach Jon Sharp: "I only caught a glimpse of Stephen Wild putting the ball down for his second try as I was walking down the touchline at the time and looked up to see him going over. "He made a terrific contribution to the game but all we did was focus on being positive despite Catalans making it very hard for us. "They are a difficult side to play against as they have many good players who
all did well today." Catalans coach Mick Potter: "We did some good things this afternoon and even though we are still on a
steep learning curve I think we are making progress. "We created some good opportunities but need to be more positive in defence
if we are to start winning games more often."
