Crusaders boss Brian Noble ready to shake-up play-offs

From Crusader-gate to top eight?

Coach Brian Noble says the Crusaders will shake up the Super League play-offs if they manage to claim a top eight finish.

The Crusaders host Hull KR in their final game of the regular season on Saturday knowing they must win and hope that Castleford slip up at St Helens.

"We've just got to win," Noble told BBC Sport Wales.

"Unless we win we're out of the equation because the points difference isn't good enough."

The Crusaders suffered a nightmare first season in Super League last year when they finished bottom of the table and had six players deported after breaching visa regulations.

But since then, the club has been taken over and relocated from Bridgend in south Wales to Wrexham in north Wales, and appointed Noble as successor to John Dixon.

They go into the final game in ninth place with 11 wins from their 26 games and are tied on 22 points with eighth-placed Castleford, who have a far superior points difference.

"If you'd have said at the start of the year we'd been in a shout for the eight going into the last game of the season I think a few fans would have chuckled - there may have been an element of hysteria round there," said Noble.

"We believe we can make the eight and shake the eight up, but we need Castleford to get beaten at St Helens and we need to win against a team in Hull KR that are very, very good."
