Thomas left Cardiff Blues for the Crusaders |
Jonathan Davies has backed fellow Wales code convert Gareth Thomas to be a success in rugby league. Thomas has made the switch from union to league side Crusaders, a similar move to the one Davies made in 1989. "He is a fit, strong guy, so the physicality of the game won't be a problem for him," Davies told the BBC's Super League Show. "Just getting use to the different nature and pace of the game might be a bit of a problem at the start." Davies, who left Llanelli to join Widnes in the late 1980s, added: "He is not scared of a challenge. He went to play in France, has played for the Lions and obviously faced tough times in his personal life. That's made his a tougher and happier character "He is very strong under the high ball, is an amazing try scorer and can play at wing, centre or full-back and I think he'll prove to be a great asset for the Crusaders."
