Three of the six Celtic Crusaders Australian players deported over visa irregularities have won awards at the club's annual prize-giving. Damien Quinn won the club's try-of-the-year award, Darren Mapp the accolade for community work and Josh Hannay the top-scorer prize. Hannay's award comes despite the Crusaders having a Super League game left at Castleford on Sunday. Prop Ryan O'Hara dominated proceedings, winning four club awards. O'Hara was named supporters' player of the year, best forward, player of the year and the coveted players' player of the year. | 606: DEBATE |
Welsh international Ben Flower won two trophies, for hit of the year and rookie of the year while his fellow international squad member Luke Dyer was best back. The club deemed Hannay's season-long tally of 58 points, 39 ahead of his nearest rival, as unassailable in that remaining game at Castleford. Quinn, Mapp and Hannay joined then-captain Jace van Dijk, top try-scorer Tony Duggan and Mark Dalle Cort in being deported after a UK Border Agency (UKBA) investigation ruled the six were in the United Kingdom illegally. Van Dijk, Duggan and Quinn made their debuts for the club in 2006 with Mapp, Dalle Cort and Hannay arriving the following season. On Saturday the Crusaders announced that head coach John Dixon will leave the club after Sunday's final match of the season at Castleford, no replacement has yet been named.
