Australian scrum-half Scott Dureau has agreed a two-year deal to sign for Catalans Dragons next season.

The 24-year-old Newcastle Knights man is to replace compatriot Brent Sherwin, who has spent the second half of this season in Perpignan.

"I'm excited about joining Catalans," said Dureau. "The club's on the improve and it's a fantastic part of the world.

"I have worked with new coach Trent Robinson before and can't wait to play under him for the next two seasons."

Dureau has scored five tries in 40 NRL appearances for Newcastle since making his professional debut against Manly in 2007.

"I am glad to have signed Scott Dureau," said new coach Robinson. "He is a young scrum-half with a tremendous potential and I am sure he'll have a big impact in Super League.

"He is a leader who will manage the team around the park with his excellent long kicking game. It was very important for the club to get this kind of player profile."
