Holmes started at local junior club Normanton Knights |
Former Bradford Grand Final winning coach Brian Noble has paid tribute to Castleford Tigers' youth policy. The Tigers have beaten local rivals Wakefield and Huddersfield in their opening two matches, with some of their academy players having starring roles. "They have a great conveyer belt of talent coming through," Noble told the BBC's Super League Show. "Credit to [coach] Terry Matterson because he plays these young guys and gives them the chance to shine." Academy products such as Oliver Holmes, Joe Arundel and Adam Milner have all made impressive starts to the season. Noble added: "It's not just about producing the kids. You have to play them in the first team for them to develop and improve and full credit to Terry Matterson for doing that. The brand of rugby they play is great too."
