Castleford Tigers loan pair to York City Knights

York City Knights

York City Knights have signed two Castleford Tigers players under the dual registration scheme.

Centre or full-back Jordan Thompson, 18, and utility forward John Davies, 19, will remain for the season.

Both players are part of the Tigers' first-team squad and Thompson was on the bench for the game against Hull KR.

Knights general manager Ian Wilson told BBC Radio York: "We're really excited about them coming over and I'm sure they've both got a lot to offer us."

Thompson and Davies will continue to train full-time with the Castleford first team and join York late on in the week for team sessions.

Both players can be called back to Castleford for first team duty at 24 hours notice and neither will play in the Challenge Cup for the York.

Wilson added: "We've been speaking with Castleford for the last week or so about this possibility.

"We knew from the outset it wouldn't involve the Challenge Cup.

"Castleford have got their main registrations and if they choose to play them in their first grade then that's what they'll do.

"They don't want to risk not being able to play them in the Challenge Cup by them playing for us in round three."
