Last season's 17 tries for Ainscough at Wigan came in a run of 11 games |
Castleford Tigers have signed Wigan Warriors winger Shaun Ainscough on a one-month loan deal as temporary cover for broken leg victim Richard Owen. The 20-year-old made his Super League debut for Wigan last season, scoring 17 tries in just 12 games but then missed the last two months though injury. Under a dual-registration contract, Ainscough has already featured for Widnes so far this season. He is not eligible to play when Wigan play Castleford on 21 March. "It's a good move for me joining Castleford," said Ainscough. "I'm really pleased to be back in Super League and can't wait for the game at the weekend. "Obviously I had a chance at this level last season, but then I missed out for the last couple of months so I have wanted to get back into playing in the top flight for a while. "I'm looking forward to meeting the guys tomorrow and hope to take this chance to show what I can do in Super League." Wigan are currently top of Super League XV, having won their first three games, running in 17 tries. Cas, who opened their season with a win at Super League champions Leeds, go into Saturday's game on the back of successive defeats, at home to Warrington and on Friday at Bradford.
