Castleford Tigers have signed Kirk Netherton from Hull Kingston Rovers. The 22-year-old hooker has told at the end of last season he was surplus to requirements at Craven Park and has penned a one-year deal with the Tigers. "I'm really looking forward to joining the Tigers and a new challenge," Netherton told the club's website. "I have seen that Cas have made a number of new signings, the squad for 2009 looks very promising and I'm pleased to be part of it." Tigers coach Terry Matterson said: "This is a real opportunity for Kirk. He goes well and he is also versatile with some experience in the back row. "He will complement Ryan Hudson and with Ryan, Kirk and Rangi Chase I feel that we have the dummy half role more than covered." I have some great memories and have played with some great players," Henderson told BBC Radio Leeds. "I've met some wonderful people, the hospitality of the people in this area has been outstanding. "It would have been nice to stay in the area having made some good friends here, but it wasn't meant to be. "A new challenge awaits for me at Gateshead Thunder and I look forward to getting up there. "I want to get settled in, get to know the players and help take the club forward."
