Castleford Tigers have signed prop forward Mitchell Sargent from Australian NRL side Newcastle Knights. Subject to obtaining a work permit, the 28-year-old will join Super League's bottom club for the rest of the current season and the next two. He has made over 100 NRL appearances and has had spells with Melbourne Storm and North Queensland Cowboys. "He is an aggressive forward but he also has plenty of skill," said Tigers coach Terry Matterson. "I know Mitchell having coached him at Melbourne Storm and he will bring plenty to our squad." He was a regular for the Knights last year until missing out on the latter stages of the season through injury. Fully fit, he returned to action this season in the NSW Cup side and was included in last weekend's 18. Work permit allowing, the Tigers are planning to bring Sargent over to the UK in the next couple of weeks.
