 Manu, 25, is a Tonga international |
Castleford will be without new signing Willie Manu for at least the first month of the new Super League season. The 25-year-old Tongan has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of community service after being found guilty by an Australian court of assault.
The Tigers had hoped that Manu, who was due to catch a flight back to England
on Friday, would be able to serve his punishment in this country.
But a Castleford spokesman said: "The option is unlikely to be acceptable."
He went on: "Plans are being discussed for Willie to complete his community
service as soon as is possible and, as things stand, we hope he will be in a
position to rejoin us around one month into the season."
