Ex-North Queensland coach Murray Hurst is out of the frame to be the next coach of relegated Castleford. The Tigers had been thought to be close to appointing the Australian to replace Gary Mercer, who left last month.
Hurst flew over for talks last week but has now been removed from the short-list for personal reasons.
Tigers chief executive Richard Wright said: "We still have two very good candidates in the frame and we will be continuing discussions with them."
