Who's next at the Jungle?

Graham Steadman has become the first coaching casualty of the Super League season, parting company with Castleford after their dismal start to the new campaign.

But who will be his replacement at the Jungle?

We take a look at the likely candidates that the Tigers may turn to in the hope of ending their seven-match losing streak and lifting them off the bottom of the Super League table.

John Kear
John Kear
Will he want to leave Hull?
Assistant coach at Hull, Kear is a former Castleford player and has been on the coaching staff at the club before, under Mal Reilly.

He has the experience, having previously been head coach at Huddersfield, Paris and Sheffield - who he famously led to the 1998 Challenge Cup final victory over Wigan.

He may, though, find it difficult to walk out on Hull who look to be on the verge of a bright future.

Mal Reilly
A Cas legend as player and coach, Reilly has been out of the direct firing line of day-to-day football after leaving Huddersfield when the club merged with Sheffield.

He has since been a key behind-the-scenes figure at Leeds and currently Hull KR. His appointment would be hugely popular.

The former GB boss is still spoken of in awed tones 'down the lane', but Cas may decide on a younger man.

Mike Ford
After leaving Oldham, Ford has been building a significant reputation as Ireland Rugby Union's defensive coach.

He's another former Castleford player. But may not be tempted by life at the Jungle having just signed new contracts with the Irish RFU and Saracens.

Neil Kelly
The Widnes coach has long been linked with the Castleford job, even though he has been under pressure at the Halton Stadium.

Kelly got the Widnes board's backing recently and was promised a new two year contract extension. But there has been no sign of him putting pen to paper since.

He still lives in Yorkshire too, so moving into the Castleford hot seat could be very tempting.

Daryl Powell
Daryl Powell
Will day-to-day involvement lure Powell to Castleford?
Powell was moved upstairs at Leeds with the arrival of Tony Smith.

He has been promised his old coaching job back in three years.

But he may decide that's too long to wait if offered the job with his hometown team.

Frank Endacott or Chris Anderson
Both are long shots, but the ex New Zealand and Australian national coaches are out of work at the moment.

Their stock is still high in the UK, and either could be a dark horse candidate.
