Noble praises salary cap effect
Bradford coach Brian Noble
Noble has a remarkable record of success with the Bulls
Bradford coach Brian Noble has praised the effect of Super League's strict salary cap as his side prepare to start the defence of their title.

Super League clubs can only spend 1.8m per annum on player wages, and can only have a maximum of 20 players earning in excess of 20,000 per annum.

"I think the RFL are getting to where they want to be - parity," said Noble.

"If you look at what London, Les Catalans and Castleford have got, it's difficult to pick out a weak team."

Noble believes the RFL want all the teams to be on "a level playing field" financially, and added: "That's the reason for the salary cap.

"I can't see any other reason for it, other than to protect against poor administration."

I've no aspirations to do anything other than coach at Bradford
Bulls coach Brian Noble on speculation linking him with a director of rugby position

Bradford will be fielding a new-look side in Super League XI with captain Jamie Peacock, Robbie Paul, Stuart Reardon, Rob Parker, Lee Radford, Leon Pryce and Karl Pratt all leaving the club.

"We've got a very motivated group of people. I expect us to be as tough as we've ever been - but I expect the competition to be tough."

Noble, who combines his duties as Bulls coach with the Great Britain job, has taken Bradford to the Grand Final for five years in a row.

And insists speculation linking him with a director of rugby role to let assistant Steve McNamara take over is wide of the mark.

"I've no aspirations to do anything other than coach at Bradford," said Noble, whose contract runs out at the end of next season.

Bradford face Hull KR in a friendly on Friday for Paul's testimonial after 11 years at Odsal.
