Michael Dobson ran in two tries and kicked seven goals for a 22-point haul as Hull KR recorded a fourth successive home Super League win at Craven Park.

Clint Newton crossed twice and there were also tries for Shaun Briscoe, Joel Clinton and Scott Wheeldon.

Danny Ward was the only Harlequins try scorer as they showed few signs of their recent revival in form.

The victory puts the Robins' challenge for an end of season play-off place very much back on track.

They now rise above Bradford Bulls into seventh - four points clear of ninth-placed Huddersfield.

Early Rovers' pressure paid off when Ben Fisher and Dobson combined to send in Newton for the opening try, which Dobson converted.

Shortly afterwards, Newton crashed over for his second try, Dobson again adding the extra two points, before Dobson burst through on the right for an individual try which he converted.

On the restart, Rovers survived an early scare close to their own line but when, on his return to action, Rob Purdham flung out a wild pass on 44 minutes Dobson snatched the ball to race 80 metres to claim his second try.

Four minutes later full-back Briscoe joined the line to spin out of a tackle before touching down.

Worse was to come for Quins when Rhys Lovegrove sent in Wheeldon on 57 minutes with, Dobson making it six conversions in a row.

Harlequins continued to battle, getting their reward on the hour when Ward forced his way over for a try converted by Danny Orr.

With seven minutes to go, Liam Watts danced his way round two men before sending in Australian prop Clinton for his first try for the club.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan said:

"It really was just a good solid team performance.

"In the 78th minute we showed a great desire to defend our line when the game was certainly won.

"It was also pleasing to see the front-rowers combining for some tries. Rhys Lovegrove laid one on for Scott Wheeldon and Liam Watts laid one on for Joel and it's always good to see these guys working in combinations.

"Also, I thought Michael Dobson did well. We are not too far away with our kicking game."

Harlequins head coach Brian McDermott said:

"I thought Hull KR were very good and I don't think there was one area where we were particularly poor.

"I did not think we were that bad, certainly not as bad as the scoreline would suggest.

"We had a couple of soft occasions in defence which made me angry but some of the mistakes are the result of the way we play. We play hot at times and we force passes but with that style comes loose ball and you lose possession but you have to deal with it."
