St Helens (20) 24 Tries: Wheeler, Eastmond, Moore, Meli, Dean Goals: Eastmond 2
Fisher has had spells with Sydney Roosters and Halifax
Ben Fisher's late try gave Hull KR a thrilling victory over St Helens.
Gary Wheeler touched down to give the visitors an early lead, but Rovers hit back with 16 unanswered points thanks mainly to two scores from Liam Colbon.
Saints embarked on a scoring streak of their own and led 20-16 at half-time, before Colbon completed his hat-trick to put the hosts back in front.
Chris Dean restored Saints' advantage, but sustained Rovers pressure ensured that Fisher would have the last word.
After Wheeler had broken the deadlock, Jonny Lomax failed to deal with a Michael Dobson kick allowing Ben Galea to pounce.
Colbon then intervened to open up a lead for the home side, his first try coming after being sent in by Kris Welham, the second, just a minute later, after good work from Welham and Dobson.
Kyle Eastmond profited from a spill in the Rovers defence to begin the Saints fightback, with Scott Moore touching down after Welham was penalised for obstruction and Francis Meli strolling in to give the visitors a half-time lead.
Colbon's score in the corner three minutes into the second period was superbly converted by Dobson to put Rovers back in front, but the lead changed hands again went Dean went over.
The clock ticked down as Saints were made to defend their advantage but with just two minutes left the home side's efforts paid off as Fisher nipped in under the posts to hand Rovers the win.
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan: "We did show some more grit and determination at times, but we need to become a bit smarter.
"We rallied round nicely in the last 10 minutes and it was a nice decisive play from Ben Fisher to get the winner.
"I thought we were pretty solid for the first 25 to 30 minutes, apart from their score, and went on and racked up three tries."
St Helens boss Mick Potter:
"They had 40-odd tackles on our line. That may be something to do with how well KR played, but at the end of the day the responsibility comes back on us.
"We needed to get them off our line for 40-odd plays. I don't think many teams can hold out for that length of time."
