Bradford (4) 7 Tries: Menzies Goals: Orford Drop Goals: Sykes
Bradford climbed two places to eighth in the Super League with a narrow victory in a poor quality game against Salford at The Willows. Steve Menzies scored the only try of an uninspiring match after Brett Kearney broke the Salford line and Paul Sykes put him through in the 24th minute. Salford were persistent but offered little threat to Bradford. Matt Orford added a 65th-minute penalty but the win was only assured with Sykes' drop goal with two minutes left.
Reds coach Shaun McRae said: "It is probably the second week in a row I could say we deserved a draw. "We had a couple of try-scoring opportunities and didn't quite take them. "We need to fine-tune a couple of things but I thought it was above satisfactory. If we keep playing like that a win is not too far away." Bradford coach Steve McNamara added: "I don't think either side will be selling DVDs of it. "I thought inside the first 10 minutes of the game we had three or four really clear-cut chances and I'm just glad that hasn't come back to bite us on the backside."
