Young winger Dale Morton scored twice as Wakefield came from behind at Belle Vue to claim a second successive victory of the new Super League season.

The 19-year-old Academy product twice benefited from Danny Brough passes.

Glenn Morrison also touched down in the recovery, adding to earlier home tries from Dale Ferguson and Luke George.

Catalans twice led after tries from Dimitri Pelo, Olivier Elima and Sebastian Martins, but Chris Walker's late effort proved a mere consolation.

Catalans, already without playmaker Thomas Bosc, suffered a further blow on the morning of the game when full-back Clint Greenshields went down ill.

But Wakefield's main area of concern was an injury to Paul Johnson, the former Warrington utility man, who left the field just minutes after coming off the bench for his debut.

Wakefield coach John Kear said:

"I don't care who dropped out before kick-off or who they had unavailable, the 17 players that represent Catalans Dragons are 17 good players. They are always tough, big and physical.

"Dale Morton played well and took his tries well. It's testament to the junior coaching they are receiving here.

"Paul Johnson came on and just got cleaned out in an illegal tackle. He's got a headache but he should be all right for selection next week."

Catalans Dragons coach Kevin Walters said:

"Wakefield are very hard to beat here and they showed their colours again.

"We have got a lot of things to work on but that is what this time of year is about.

"Our first half was OK but then we just lost our way a bit with our discipline. And they were better in the second half."
