Roberts scored in either half as Wigan beat Crusaders |
Wigan Warriors coach Michael Maguire saw his reign get off to a winning start with a one-sided home victory over Crusaders. It was largely one-way traffic once Amos Roberts opened the scoring Andy Coley, Martin Gleeson and Pat Richards all crossed as Wigan opened up a 20-6 half-time lead, Luke Dyer replying for the visitors. But Wigan continued to dominate as Cameron Phelps crossed, Roberts ran in his second and Lee Mossop went over.
Wigan coach Michael Maguire said: "There's plenty of improvement in what we've seen tonight. Hopefully we can get that over the next few weeks. "I was impressed with the togetherness of the players. They worked very hard defensively. "That's obviously a key thing that we've been working on in pre-season and I think it played its part tonight." Crusaders head coach Brian Noble said: "Our lack of preparation time showed. I always had a feeling after the euphoria of last week that it would be tough. "It was frustrating because some of the things we did, we did to ourselves. We've still a bit to work on but we knew that. "It's a tough place to come and play, especially when you haven't been together long but we're not going to get any easy games."
