Catalans Dragons proved too strong for Hull KR, running in six tries to claim an easy win at Craven Park.
Tries from Jason Croker and Dimitri Pelo laid the platform as Hull KR only came to life late in the half with tries from Stanley Gene and Byron Ford.
The Dragons went ahead early in the second half when Stacey Jones's chip set up Vincent Duport to go over.
Clint Greenshields and Kane Bentley stretched the lead before a solo effort from Jones capped a superb display.
Catalans coach Mick Potter "I was happy with the way the whole squad contributed and I think the result
shows that we are stronger and have more depth in our squad than we did last
season.
"Maybe Hull KR had their minds on Monday's derby, but I didn't speak too much
about that with the players.
"It was something I spoke about with the coaches though."
Hull KR coach Justin Morgan "We waited until we were 10-0 down before we started playing and even then it
took the oldest bloke in the world (Stanley Gene) to get us back into the game.
"We sat back on our heels and we looked to go for the big plays all the time.
"We were still in the game at half-time, and I wanted them to take the game
forward. But we couldn't until the final 10 minutes or so."
