Harlequins guaranteed their Super League safety with a narrow win over Wigan at the Twickenham Stoop.
Quins captain Mark McLinden kicked a drop-goal at the end of the first half which proved to be the difference.
The home side had a 21-12 lead at the break, thanks to tries from Solomon Haumono, Luke Dorn and Lee Hopkins.
Wigan, with Bryan Fletcher scoring a hat-trick, fought back and made Quins endure a nervy finale after Michael Dobson brought them within a point.
Quins needed a point from their remaining two matches to be sure of Super League safety, but can now relax for their final game of the season against Salford after an inconsistent season.
Hopkins opened the scoring after six minutes and Haumono finished off a flowing move to add a second soon after.
Wigan's first try came courtesy of a hefty slice of luck as Chris Ashton's kick-off smacked off the crossbar, with Fletcher the quickest to react.
Dorn restored Quins' healthy advantage after 20 minutes and a Henry Paul penalty extended the lead.
Warriors skipper Sean O'Loughlin collected Danny Orr's kick to cut the gap again before McLinden's long-range drop-goal just before the half-time hooter.
After the break, Wigan had two early efforts ruled out for offside and it was Quins who scored the first points through Hopkins' second of the game.
Haumono also grabbed his second try to take Quins well clear, but the London club nearly threw the match away as two tries from Fletcher and Dobson's effort took the match down to the wire.
Harlequins coach Brian McDermott: "It was a massive game, a huge result and gutsy performance - I'm relieved our relegation worries don't have to go down to the last day.
"Solomon Haumono was scary - I'm glad I didn't have to defend against him.
"I thought Wigan played very well especially in the second half and they made it a nervy last 10 minutes."
Wigan coach Brian Noble: "Harlequins were outstanding in the first half and we didn't really get going. But in the second half we showed how good we can be.
"I thought that Bryan Fletcher had another good game and Sean O'Loughlin was outstanding in the second half.
"But Harlequins had a better kicking game than us and deserved the win."
