Saints sign up Gilmour & Hooper
Lee Gilmour
Gilmour is set to play for Great Britain in the forthcoming Test against New Zealand
St Helens second row Lee Gilmour and stand-off Jason Hooper have both signed new two-year deals, which will keep them at the club until the end of 2008.

Great Britain international Gilmour, 28, has made 76 appearances for Saints, scoring 23 tries including the opening try in the 2004 Challenge Cup final.

Gilmour said: "I'm really glad to be staying at Saints.

"I've been here three years and I'm looking forward to a successful end to this season and hopefully a few more."

Australian Hooper is in his fourth season at Knowsley Road with 96 appearances under his belt. He was Saints' leading try-scorer in 2004 with 20, and has scored 43 tries in total.

The 28 year-old has enjoyed a new lease of life under coach Daniel Anderson, playing in 34 of the last 37 Super League matches, and is grateful to the club for supporting him.

"I'd like to thank St Helens for having faith in me last year, especially after my injury, and for showing that faith again with the new deal," said Hooper.

"I'm really happy to have signed for two more years, and I am looking forward to playing good rugby and winning some trophies."

Gilmour and Hooper follow prop Nick Fozzard and centre Willie Talau in signing new deals, which Saints Chief Executive Sean McGuire described as a clear statement of the club's intentions.

"They are both very important players for us and we are delighted to have retained their services.

"In following Willie Talau and Nick Fozzard in committing their futures to the club, it is a strong endorsement of our current standards and future ambitions at the Saints."
