Talau has been key to Saints' success |
New Zealand centre Willie Talau has signed a two-year contract extension to stay at St Helens until 2008. Talau, 30, joined Saints in August 2003 from Canterbury Bulldogs and has made 80 appearances, scoring 33 tries.
The Kiwi said: "I'm delighted to have been able to sort out my future early in the season so I can concentrate on playing rugby for Saints.
"My family are happy in St Helens and I'm really enjoying my rugby, so it was an easy decision to make."
Talau was part of Saints' 2004 Challenge Cup-winning team, scoring two tries in the final against Wigan Warriors.
He has also made 12 appearances for New Zealand, including the 2000 World Cup final.
Saints chief executive Sean McGuire said: "Willie has been a consistent performer and is often overlooked when people assess our strengths.
"We believe he can continue being an integral part of our success in the next couple of seasons."
