Huddersfield centre Chris Nero grabbed a superb hat-trick to condemn London to defeat at the Galtharm Stadium.

Nero opened the scoring after just five minutes but tries from Jon Wells, Tyrone Smith and Nick Bradley-Qalilawa gave London a 16-12 half-time lead .

The Giants regained the advantage with two tries from Nero and a score from Hefin O'Hare after the break.

Bradley-Qalilawa and Thomas Leuluai crossed again to set up a tense finish only for Chris Thorman to seal victory.

Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp was a relieved man after seeing his side end their three-match losing streak.

I was really pleased for Chris but he got on the end of some good stuff from the players inside him
Huddersfield coach Jon Sharp

"It was extremely important for us to keep around sixth place in Super League and in touch with Warrington and Wigan," he said.

"Therefore the claiming the points against London was paramount for us.

"However, credit should be given to London who created a lot of chances and caused us problems."

Sharp refused to single out Nero for praise and says the win was down to real team effort.

"I was really pleased for Chris but he got on the end of some good stuff from the players inside him," Sharp added.

We did some untidy things and the handover areas cost us
London boss Tony Rea

"He will get all the accolades but there was some smart play with Paul Smith in particular playing well."

London coach Tony Rea was keeping positive despite seeing his side crash to their seventh straight league defeat.

"I was happy with a lot of what we did, we made them work hard and defended our line well but our support play is an area we need to improve on," he said.

"It was a better performance away from home than we have produced of late.

"We showed tremendous fight and good intent and purpose but we did some untidy things and the handover areas cost us."
