Wigan got their troubled campaign back on track with an 11-try thrashing of bottom side Leigh at the JJB Stadium.

The Warriors lifted themselves up to fifth place in Super League after three defeats in their opening five matches.

Captain and full-back Kris Radlinski led the scoring with a hat-trick of tries, Brett Dallas bagging a double.

Irish wing Brian Carney also celebrated his return with a try in the first half as the Centurions, still pointless, were hopelessly outclassed.

Wigan took the lead with barely 10 minutes on the clock when Danny Tickle finished off a super passing move down the right flank.

The young second rower converted his own touchdown for a 6-0 lead, quickly added to by the returning Carney, who flew in at the corner.

We know our performance had to improve and it did - but there were no high-fives afterwards

Terry Newton's flat pass found an unmarked Dallas for the third before Wayne Godwin took advantage of some sloppy play around the play-the-ball.

Radlinski put the game out of Leigh's reach by finishing off a tremendous team move on the stroke of half-time.

Tickle's fourth conversion ensured a 28-0 interval lead.

Radlinski grabbed his second try three minutes into the second half, after a tremendous break inside his own half from Sean O'Loughlin.

Leigh then got on the scoresheet when two quickfire penalties gave them the field position to send Oliver Wilkes over on the left flank.

But Wigan responded when Godwin's break from dummy half sent Dallas racing under the sticks.

Dennis Moran was next to cross as the Warriors ran riot against a tiring defence.

I asked the lads to hammer a nail in Wigan's coffin - but they used pliers

The one-way traffic continued as the impressive Brown created the next score, Vaealiki providing the support to bring the 50 up.

Radlinski and then finally Brown in the dying seconds completed the rout.

Wigan coach Denis Betts later singled out young back-rowers Danny Tickle and Sean O'Loughlin for special praise.

"I thought Danny was outstanding, again," Betts said. "He is now becoming the player everybody thought he would when he was at Halifax.

"It seems like he has been playing Super League for 10 years but he's still only 21 years old.

"Sean played well too. His ability is unquestionable, outstanding. He's a talented kid and he's now becoming more mature."
