Hull FC have boosted their squad by signing Leeds prop Ewan Dowes on a two-year contract. "I'd like to thank the club for giving me this opportunity and I'm going to take it with both hands," said Dowes, who had been on loan at the Kingston Communications Stadium.
Hull first-team coach John Kear added: "We've been absolutely delighted with Ewan.
"He is a good Super League player now, but he can become a very good player in the couple of years with us." St Helens will be without centre Martin Gleeson for several weeks after undergoing a leg operation.
The Great Britain international needed surgery after being struck down by blood poisoning following a training accident.
"We won't see Gleeson for a long time." said Saints coach Ian Millward.
"He's had the infected part removed from his leg and may need to have a skin graft because it's so deep."
