Warrington remain deep in Super League relegation territory after Castleford handed out an eight-try drubbing at The Jungle.

Castleford centre Michael Eagar scored two tries and fellow Australian Wayne Bartrim slotted seven goals.

For Warrington, stand-off Lee Briers scored a try and kicked six goals, while Tommy O'Reilly and Darren Burns also went over.

The Tigers were soon into their stride and took a second-minute lead when Barrie Jon Mather was sent over.

Briers answered with a sixth-minute penalty goal but soon after Castleford winger Waine Pryce scored in the corner and Bartrim added a touchline goal.

Castleford looked by far the sharper side and increased their lead through tries from Ryan Hudson and Michael Smith.

Briers converted his own try shortly before the break as Castleford turned round 22-10 up.

Briers was on target again in the 42nd minute with his fourth goal as Warrington started the second half in determined fashion.

But Wolves missed a clear-cut chance when Gary Hulse was unable to take a pass from half-back partner Briers with the line wide open.

And they were quickly made to regret the miss when Castleford prop Andy Lynch powered in for a try.

The Tigers continued their onslaught and went over through Jon Wells and Eagar before Warrington hit back with tries from O'Reilly and Burns.

But the Tigers had the last laugh when Eagar picked up a wayward pass by Warrington's Sid Domic and raced in for his second, which Bartrim converted.
