London routed hapless Halifax to record their third successive Super League home win.

The Broncos ran in eight tries, including four in a nine-minute second half spell, despite losing talismanic half-back Dennis Moran with an ankle injury midway through the first half.

In an error-strewn first period both teams managed two tries, with Nigel Roy and Tony Martin crossing for London and Gavin Clinch and Colum Halpenny replying for the visitors.

Two minutes into the second half Stuart Donlan dropped the ball a metre from the London line and it proved a turning point.

Jason Hetherington, from a tapped penalty, and Richie Barnett - from 45 metres - scored within 90 seconds of each other.

Wayne Evans and Roy went over for two more quick-fire scores as London opened up a 22-point lead.

Jamie Bloem reduced the arrears with a try and a conversion for Halifax but the Broncos were quick to hit back.

Martin grabbed his second try and on-loan forward Richard Moore ran in the last London try, Martin converting both to complete a personal haul of 22 points.

Broncos coach Tony Rea was delighted with the result but realistic about the performance.

"I didn't think we played that well," he said. "There is certainly room for improvement.

"We needed to get a bit of control and I asked the boys up front to take responsibility as we had lost our half-back.

"At half-time I said to Jason Hetherington that we needed a really big game from him and he showed up.

"He was everywhere in the second half and that is why I took him off just before the end.

"He had a slight knock and he could have done more damage to his shoulder if he had stayed out and made another big tackle so it was really for his own good."

Blue Sox coach Steve Linnane lamented "a poor performance" from his side.

"We dropped the ball eight times on tackle one and that is not good enough for the Super League level," he said.

"There were poor executions, wrong decisions being made - and bad judgement shown everywhere.

"There is a fine line between being successful and being an also-ran. At the moment we are in the latter category."
