Horne is one of four Hull players in the GB squad

Richard Horne will fill the scrum-half berth vacated by Sean Long in Great Britain's crunch Tri-Nations game with Australia in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Hull star will make his first start of the series following Long's decision to quit the tour for personal reasons.

Martin Gleeson replaces Kirk Yeaman in the centres while lock Sean O'Loughlin returns to the starting line-up but winger Brian Carney is still injured.

The Lions need at least a draw from the to make the final on 25 November.

GB coach Brian Noble has given himself room for manoeuvre by naming a seven-man interchange bench, with three players expected to be omitted later in the week.

James Roby and Adrian Morley are almost certainly to be in the final squad, but the inclusion of Rob Burrow in the 20-man squad suggests he might also have a part to play.

Horne was delighted to be called up. "I've been waiting a long time to get my opportunity and I'm looking forward to it," he said.

"Sean (Long) is a big loss. But these things happen, and you've just got to get on with it and put it behind you and focus on what the team is now."
