Melbourne players celebrate their semi-final win |
Minor premiership winners Melbourne Storm beat St George Illawarra 24-10 on Saturday to set up an NRL Grand Final clash against Brisbane next Sunday. Second-half tries by winger Steve Turner and prop Antonio Kaufusi pushed Melbourne out of the Dragons' reach.
Brisbane earned their spot in the final by coming from 20-6 down against Canterbury to win 37-20.
Next Sunday's Grand Final in Sydney will be the first without any representatives from New South Wales.
Brisbane had looked unlikely to recover from their 14-point half-time deficit against the Bulldogs but their 31-point second-half recovery, including six tries, was the biggest in finals history.
Hooker Shaun Berrigan scored two, one a length of the field sprint, while captain Darren Lockyer contributed a goal, a conversion and the match-winning try.
Melbourne last won the Grand Final in 1999, whilst the Broncos have won their previous five finals.
