Wilkin scored twice for Saints against Hull KR |
St Helens forward Jon Wilkin kept his celebrations on hold after helping to condemn old club Hull Kingston Rovers to a humiliating Challenge Cup defeat. The 22-year-old scored two of Saints' first three tries in their 50-0 rout of the club he supported as a child.
"I thought I'd show some respect to the people who supported me when I was younger," he said.
"It's the first time I've come across a situation like this and it's a learning curve. I am just happy we won."
Hull KR are unbeaten in 12 games in League One this season and are on course for promotion to Super League.

But they also suffered a dent to their confidence with defeat to Leigh in the Northern Rail Cup final two weeks ago.
Wilkin, though, tipped the Robins to bounce back.
"They will be struggling at the moment," he said. "They have had two big games in the last three or four weeks and had bad results in both of them.
"It's up to them how their season goes. They can either kick on and be positive and carry on in the form they have shown in the league or they can sulk and maybe get down on themselves.
"Justin (Morgan) is a fantastic coach and I'm sure he will make sure they are fired up and maintain their league form.
"They will be disappointed with the scoreline but we knew in the back of our minds that if we played well and did the little things right, we would win the game."
